Residents of Yate will have to wait a little longer to grow their own vegetables after unused land which was set to be turned into allotments was deemed unsuitable.

The Town Council has been looking for a piece of land to turn into allotments for a growing list of would-be gardeners for many years but has not been successful in finding any appropriate sites.

Councillors finally thought they had found the answer in a piece of redundant land on Stover Road but access to the site has been deemed unsuitable.

A project steering group had been set up to try to identify a site anywhere in Yate or the surrounding area and suggestions for potential sites to be investigated are very welcome.
