on Wednesday, 08 April 2015 15:33. Posted in Events News

Yate Town Council in conjunction with the Friends of Kingsgate Park held yet another successful Easter Egg event in Kingsgate Park, Yate on Easter Monday.

The event was attended by approximately 1,500 people and this year we had brilliant weather, with over 700 Easter eggs being distributed to children who attended the event. The judges were very impressed by the standard of the 40 entries in the Easter bonnet competition with every entry receiving a prize and certificate.

Yate Town Council, organisers of the free Easter Egg Extravaganza Event were delighted with how well the event was supported by local businesses and the local community.

The Town Council and the Friends will now work towards the Community Music Festival taking place in Kingsgate Park on 20th and 21st June 2015.

Brinsham Park Picnic Event

on Wednesday, 03 September 2014 15:14. Posted in Events News

At Brinsham Fields on Sunday 31st August, local residents came along to their local park to enjoy a free Picnic Event and to fundraise for Great Western Air Ambulance.

With the weather on our side, local residents could bring along a picnic to enjoy in serene surroundings of the park and lake. Alternatively they could enjoy the Hog roast and ice cream, which were also available at the event. There was also a children's treasure hunt around the park, where they could search the park for clues and in completion could pick a prize.

The Friends of Brinsham group were also present at the event and were encouraging anyone with an interest in the park to get involved with the group or to attend the AGM being held on Monday 22nd September at 7.30pm in the Pop Inn Cafe.

The event was a great success with donations from the Hog Roast, annual lottery sub purchases and bucket money reaching a total of approximately £800 for Great Western Air Ambulance.

The event was such a success that Yate Town Council is considering holding the event again next year.

This year's Community Music Festival in Kingsgate Park on the 21st and 22nd June was a great success with the sun shining all weekend. More than 6,500 people came along to the free event to listen to a variety of different bands and to watch an array of dance, gymnastic and acrobatic demonstrations. Along with the performances, spectators could also watch graffiti artists live. Children could also get creative in the free Arts and Crafts tent, where they could add their own piece of artwork to the community bunting.

Many visitors also came along to the park on Sunday to support their local churches in a community service. In the afternoon visitors could leisurely bring along a picnic to the park, which was accompanied by local bands.
