Leyhill Prison

Looking for Volunteers

Have you got some free time?  Do you enjoy working with children?  Are you fun, enthusiastic and creative?  Volunteers are needed for the play area within the visits hall in Leyhill Prison.  They are looking for someone who would enjoy spending time playing with the children and setting up activities for families to use.

Providing Fun & Comfort to Children

The main aim for the play area at Leyhill Prison is to normalise an environment that may otherwise be a frightening and strange place for a child.  It provides children with the opportunity to be children and have fun, feel comfortable and enjoy the valuable times they have with their family.  It also aims to support prisoners in maintaining and strengthening their relationships with their children and families.

How much time would I have to give?

Sessions are for approximately 2 hours in the afternoon, from 1.30pm - 3.30pm.  Volunteers are needed for Wednesday, Friday and in particular, Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  You will be police checked by the Criminal Records Bureau prior to commencing this post.
