Yate & District Rotary Club

Yate & District Rotary Club received its charter in 1991 and was one of the first clubs in the area to have women founder members.

Where does the Rotary Club meet?

Members meet on Thursday evenings at The New Inn, Westerleigh, 7.30 for 8.00pm. On the first and third Thursday of the month we have informal dinners with invited guest speakers. On the second Thursday we hold social fellowship meetings which might be at different locations from The New Inn and on the fourth Thursdays we hold our business meetings. When there is a fifth Thursday in the month, the club holds a social event for members and their partners, which also might be a different venue.

Invited Speakers at Rotary Dinners

Invited speakers come from all over to give interesting, entertaining and educational talks, often using visal aids. Some speakers come from organisations which have recieved, or are receiving, financial support from the club or from rotary as a whole, to give members feedback.

More about the Club

Yate & District Rotary Club currently has around 30 members, 7 of which are ladies. The group is young minded and enthusiastic in it's approach to Rotary business and enjoys many social activities. We enjoy lots of fun and fellowship, often accompanied by our partners. We have good team spirit to carry out the important Rotary service project work for the benefit of the local needy community groups and individuals, and also for international projects.

Fundraising

Fundraising is, of course, most important to enable the club to achieve many of its projects aims. The club's main fundraising event is the Annual Beer Festival which is held at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club on the second Friday and Saturday in July. It is the support of friends, relations and other clubs in the area that has helped make this a successful event, both raising funds and raising the profile of Yate and District Rotary Club. For more information on the Beer Festival, visit www.bs37.com/beer or follow on Facebook.com/groups/southcotsbeer/. Other fundraising activities include bucket shakes at both Morrisons and Tesco supermarkets in Yate, entertaining supper evenings, an annual Quiz Night and other various fun events carried out by club members each year.
