Yate District Oral History Project

The aim of the Yate District Oral History Project is to advance the education of the general public in the history of Yate and surrounding area, in particular by the provision of a collection of oral historical evidence.

The project has been running for many years and significant evidence has been preserved. The project's success is due entirely to the enthusiasm of the group's committee and its members.

What events take place?

We hold members meetings on the second Thursday of the month at 7.30pm at Poole Court, Yate, which include illustrated talks. In the summer months we have guided walks around local towns and villages and we have an annual coach trip to a cultural or historic venue, eg, Warwick Castle and The Black Country Museum.
