Yate & District Rotary Club received its charter in 1991 and was one of the first clubs in the area to have women founder members.

Where does the Rotary Club meet?

Members meet on Thursday evenings at Stanshawes Court, Yate. On the first and third Thursdays of the month we hold business meetings. On the second and fourth Thursdays we have an informal dinner with invited guest speakers. Should there be a fifth Thursday in the month, the club holds a social event for members and their partners.

Invited Speakers at Rotary Dinners

Invited speakers come from businesses, charities, the medical profession and many other areas of interest, which have always proved to be interesting topics for club members. Some speakers come from organisations which have received or are receiving financial support from the club or from Rotary as a whole.

More about the Club

Yate & District Rotary Club currently has around 30 members. The group is fairly young, which proves very beneficial to the club. We enjoy lots of fun and fellowship, often accompanied by our partners, at the same time carrying out the importance of our Rotary work both within the community and Rotary International.

Fundraising

Fundraising is, of course, most important to enable the club to achieve many of its aims. The club's main fundraising event is the Annual Beer Festival which is held at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club. It is with their support and that of friends and relations of club members that has helped make this a successful event both in raising funds and raising the profile of Yate Rotary Club. For more information on the Beer Festival, visit www.bs37.com/beer

Other fundraising activities include bucket shakes at both Morrisons and Tesco supermarkets in Yate, Christmas carol singing in Yate Shopping Centre, and other various fun events carried out by club members each year.
