The Town Council aims to improve the quality of life for the residents of Yate. We will endeavour to encourage and promote the best social and environmental practices for the town of Yate by managing services, assets and the resources of the Town Council for the benefit of the local community.

Mayor's Message

Councillor Ian Blair was elected as Mayor of Yate and Chair of Yate Town Council at the Annual Town Council Meeting held on 12 May 2009.

Councillor Blair has served as a Yate Town Councillor for 10 years and is very proud and honoured to be elected Mayor of Yate.  

Town Councillors

Yate Town Council has 17 elected members who represent the people of the town. All Town Councillors are governed by a Code of Conduct, which ensures that high standards are maintained.

We Provide Leisure Facilities & Amenities

Yate Mayor opens Play Area in Yate

We (Yate Town Council) provide a range of sporting facilities including a bowling green, football pitches, tennis courts and pavilion facilities and also, a skateboarding park. In addition, we own several properties including the Pop Inn Café, Yate Heritage Centre, the Parish Hall and Poole Court. Some of our facilities are even available to hire

We also provide bus shelters, litter bins, dog bins and public seats.

In addition, we administer and provide play areas at many locations throughout the town. We also own and maintain several areas of open space including Lye Field, Yate Rocks Common, Goose Green and St Mary’s Green.

We Support Local Organisations

We contribute to the care of public rights of way, give grants to local organisations, provide summer playschemes for children, support Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, the Citizens Advice Bureau and also, detached youth work.

We Act for the Benefit of the Local Community

We act for the benefit of the local community and often conduct public consultation exercises to gauge a representative public view of what local people want and how they would like us to act.

The Town Council is represented on many local organisations and management bodies. We appoint some Primary School Governors and work in conjunction with the Joint Parishes Consultative Committee on local issues that effect us all.

We are also actively involved with the Bad Salzdetfurth Town Twinning and support the Genieri Link. Also, we liase with South Gloucestershire Council on all parish matters, including planning applications.

We Provide a Service

We strive to obtain best value in order to provide the most cost-effective service for local residents.

In conjunction with South Gloucestershire Council and other neighbouring parishes, we support a night bus from Bristol.

In addition to the website, quarterly Newsletters are produced each year to keep local residents informed of the activities of the Town Council. We also produce a Yate Town Guide.

Members and staff of the Town Council are pleased to assist you. A large proportion of the Council’s time is spent in representing, lobbying and campaigning for the needs of our community.

Yate Town Council is constantly looking for ways to improve services in the community. If you spot something that could be improved, please tell us. Together we may be able to tackle it.
